There are a number of services providing for the Albanian Speaking Women in UK

WOMEN’S SUPPORT GROUP

We run 2 Women’s Support Group one is area restricted in Little Ilford Sure Start Area and the other one is run in Canning Town. These groups provide weekly support and a meeting group for a 30 Albanian speaking Women (most of them have child under school age who attend crèche)The group :

- Fosters self-help amongst Albanian Speaking women encouraging them to work together to run and develop the group

- Supports local Albanian speaking women through provision of practical and emotional support

- Encourages women to get involved in their local wider community as well as their own community group

- Helps women to develop confidence and self esteem

- Encourages women ti access other services including training and language classes

- Provide information on early years education to mothers to ensure the needs of their young children are met

- Identifies the needs of the Albanian speaking women and ensures that where these cannot be met through the group they are referred to other specialist agencies e.g for immigration advice, health, social services

The groups are run by the Women’s Development Worker. Albanian Speaking Women can join the group at any time (unless is full). We have a maximum of 15 women in each group and we have a waiting list. The women’s support group are supported by Little Ilford Sure Start, Trust for London and Community Chest. There is a crèche with each group ( one is staffed by Sure Start the other by two Shpresa volunteers who has completed NVQ level 2 and level 1 in child care). The first one is doing the placement in a local primary school.

BEAUTY AND COPMLIMENTARY THERAPY

This new service is replying to the Albanian Speaking Women’s need and enabling our volunteers who have qualification to have an practise their skills and confidence as well looking for jobs. This service is run every Thursday from 9:30- 4:30

Training

We work in partnership with a number of organization such a community education, NHS, Newham college, NECAP, etc to provide training for our members responding to their needs and we provide informal training by our self to give Albanian speaking people the right confidence to go in further training. Some of the training that we have run are:

- English classes with crèche provision
- IT classes with crèche provision
- Childcare NVQ
- Childminding
- Parenting course
- Introduction to NHS services and lots more

- Would you like to go to trips and places of interest and take part in cultural events and other?

- Would you like to have fun ?

- Would you like to get information in Albanian language?

IF THE ANSWER IS YES THEN COME ALONG TO OUR WEEKLY SUPPORT GROUP EVERY MONDAY 3:30—5:30 and Friday 3:30—5:30 at Vicarage School, Vicarage Lane E6
There is a crèche for children under 4
